Pamela es fundadora y actual directora creativa de ​Skyligh​t, una organización que se dedica a la creación de películas documentales, y proyectos de medios digitales que promueven la conciencia sobre los derechos humanos y la búsqueda de la justicia a través de campañas de alcance diseñadas para educar, involucrar y activar cambio social.  Yates es la directora del premio especial del jurado de ​Sundance​ de ​Cuando las montañas tiemblan; Productora Ejecutiva del Premio de la Academia ​“Witness to War,”​ ​y directora del premio Overseas Press Club por ​Estado de Miedo​:​ La Verdad Sobre el Terrorismo​ ; ha sido traducida a 47 idiomas y transmitida en 154 países y ​se trata de la Comisión de la Verdad y Reconciliación Peruana y como se descubrió lo que de verdad pasó durante los veinte años de guerra en contra el terrorismo. S​u película ​Granito: Como atrapar a un dictador​, por la que recibió una beca del Guggenheim, fue utilizada como evidencia forense clave en el juicio por genocidio contra Efraín Ríos Montt en Guatemala. Su tercera película en la trilogía guatemalteca, ​500 AÑOS​ ​tuvo su estreno mundial en el Festival de Cine de Sundance y actualmente se encuentra en lanzamiento.  Yates es miembro de la​ Academia de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas​, del Gremio de Escritores de América y de la​ Asociación Internacional de Documentales.

Pamela Yates​ is the Co-founder and Creative Director of​ Skylight,​ a non-profit company dedicated to creating feature length documentary films and digital media tools that advance awareness of human rights and the quest for justice by implementing multi-year outreach campaigns designed to engage, educate and activate social change. She is the Director of the Sundance Special Jury award winning ​When the Mountains Tremble​; the Executive Producer of the Academy Award winning ​Witness to War​; and the Director of ​State of Fear: The Truth About Terrorism​; which has been translated into 47 languages and broadcast in 154 countries and it’s about the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Peru and how the actual truth was discovered of what happened during twenty years of the war against terrorism. Her film ​Granito: How to Nail a Dictator​, for which she awarded a Guggenheim fellowship, was used as key forensic evidence in the genocide trial against Efraín Ríos Montt in Guatemala. Her third film in the Guatemalan trilogy, ​500 YEARS​ had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and is currently in wide release. Yates is a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, Writers Guild of America, and the International Documentary Association.
