Siguiendo la tradición familiar, Teresa y Montoya se incorporan a la policía, solo para encontrar que sus convicciones y esperanzas son aplastadas por un sistema disfuncional. Ante la hostilidad a la que se exponen, solo les queda su vínculo amoroso como refugio. A través de un experimento cinematográfico que juega con los límites de la ficción y el documental, “Una película de policías” sumerge al espectador en un espacio inusual. La película pone el reflector sobre la policía, una de las instituciones más controvertidas de México y el mundo.
Following family tradition, Teresa and Montoya join the police force, only to find their convictions and hopes crushed by a dysfunctional system. Their emotional bond becomes a refuge for the hostility they are exposedto. Through an experimental style of narrative and documentary storytelling, “A Cop Movie” propels the viewer into an unusual cinematic space, giving voice to one of Mexico and the world’s most controversial institutions.
Director y escritor de cine, Alonso estudió en The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (Rada) en Londres. Su primer largometraje “Güeros”, ganó más de 40 premios de festivales en todo el mundo, incluyendo mejor ópera prima en la Berlinale 2014, así como premios en San Sebastián, AFI, Tribeca, La Habana, entre muchos otros. Ganó cinco premios Ariel de la Academia mexicana, incluyendo Mejor Película.
“Museo“, su segundo largometraje, protagonizado por Gael García Bernal, ganó el Oso de Plata al Mejor Guion en la Berlinale 2018, así como el de Mejor Director en Atenas y Morelia, y fue el primer gran estreno en un idioma extranjero de YouTube Originals. Fue nominada a 12 premios Ariel en 2019.
Sus cortometrajes “Café Paraíso”, “The cú bird’s last song” y “Verde” han sido Selección Oficial en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Toronto, Clermont-Ferrand, la Semana de la Crítica de Cannes, el London Film Fest y Tribeca, y han ganado más de 30 premios internacionales.
También intenta ser un poco más paciente con sus hijos Martín y Tomás.
Alonso is a mexican film director and screenwriter. He studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) in London. His first feature “Güeros”, won over 40 prizes in festivals around the world, including Best First Feature at the Berlinale 2014, as well as awards at San Sebastian, AFI, Tribeca, Havana, among many others. It won 5 Mexican Academy Ariel Awards, including Best Picture.
“Museum”, his second feature, starring Gael García Bernal, won the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay at the Berlinale 2018, as well as Best Director in Athens and Morelia, and was the first major release in a foreign language from YouTube Originals. It was nominated for 12 Ariel Awards in 2019.
His short films “Café Paraíso”, “The cú bird’s last song” and “Verde” have been Official Selection at TIFF, Clermont-Ferrand, Cannes Critics Week, London Film Fest, Tribeca, and have won over 30 prizes around the world. He is represented by WME.
He’s also trying to be a little more patient with his sons Martín and Tomás.
